Reading, writing, and arithmetic are still worth learning. However, learning is more than knowing the “Three Rs.” It’s about knowing how to navigate life—for instance, having a family, raising children, filing taxes, appreciating art and music, how to buy a car, or dealing with health care. Education is not only about gaining knowledge, but how to absorb and apply that knowledge in an ethical and useful way.
